A former dentist was sentenced to 45 days in prison after he admitted trying to forcibly touch a patient.

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A former dentist will spend 45 days in jail after admitting to trying to forcibly touch a patient in 2020.

75-year-old Tiberiu V. Sfintescu of Williamsville was sentenced Monday morning before Town of Tonawanda Court Justice Daniel T. Cavarello to a sentence of 45 days in jail. Sfintescu is required to report to the Erie County Holding Center on Monday, Aug. 8.


On May 27, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m. ET, Sfintescu attempted to forcibly touch the intimate parts of a female patient during an appointment at his dental office on Greenhaven Terrace in the Town of Tonawanda.

Sfintescu pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Forcible Touching (Class "B" misdemeanor) on May 2, 2022. As part of the plea, Sfintescu sold his dental practice and voluntarily surrendered his license to practice dentistry in New York State.

Judge Cavarello issued a final order of protection on Monday on behalf of the victim.
