Lackawanna, N.Y. (WBEN) - Ever wanted to own a fire truck?
An auction ends Friday for a used Lackawanna fire truck. Auction coordinators say proceeds will go toward the City of Lackawanna, which used the truck until 2022.
Municibid's Jameel Farruq says the truck is a 1997 Spartan Infinity XL Pumper.
"It looks to be in great working condition. It's got a great engine, which needs a little bit of repair. But it starts," says Farruq, who adds it was last certified in 2022.
Farruq believes there's a good opportunity based on the condition that the truck is in and says that it may see a second life serving another department or could be used in training scenarios.
If a civilian ends up high bidder, how could he or she use this truck?
"Civilians in the private sector may be running a construction company where they need to have access to water on the site or facility that may be remote, so they can use it and things of that nature, or it may just be a collector who wants to hop around town," speculates Farruq.
The bidding concludes at 1:30 p.m. ET, and the proceeds go toward a good cause.
"The funds that come from the sale of such apparatus will go back into the fire department to purchase new equipment or another vehicle or another truck," says Farruq.
