BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Frightworld is back and ready to get Western New Yorkers quaking in their boots this fall.
The popular indoor scream park is running each weekend through November 6. Last weekend was their first weekend back in over a year after the COVID-19 pandemic caused ownership to pause their plans to open the park last year.
"We are super excited that we get to do it again this year and be back for good," Rochelle Finkelshtein, Fightworld's General Manager and Director of Operations, said. "The turnout was amazing. We are so happy to finally be able to see fan's faces again. We're really excited to see how the rest of the season goes."
Frightworld this year has 140 actors whose job is to startle you around several twists and turns. While going through the park, you'll also encounter plenty of jump scares and other oddities.
This year is different, too, in that it's the first year of its new location at 1001 Hertel Avenue in the City of Buffalo. Finkelshtein said the new location allowed them to completely recreate the layout of the park with new scare tactics.
Even though Frightworld is open for a month, she said it's a year-round effort to get ready.
"The only thing that was difficult was the regulations changing every month," she said. "With it going back and forth, we were at a standstill and we didn't know where we'd fall come September. We were fortunate."
Frightworld recommends that only people above 10 years of age attend. Because of the atmosphere, she recommends that anyone between age 10 and 15 be accompanied by a parent.
