CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WBEN)......Air traffic - both in and out - of Buffalo Niagara International Airport expressed few, if any, delays because of emergency repairs undertaken at its fuel farm.
Despite some social media rumblings, air traffic was not disrupted because of repairs being made to the fuel farm';s circuit system - which began late Sunday and carried over to Monday.
""We've got everything under control," said Kelly Khatib, NFTA spokesperson.
The airport's flight board tracker showed only two flights, as of early Monday afternoon, that were diverted from Buffalo.
All other flights were either landing or taking off with no issues.
Even travelers noticed no difference.
Grand Island resident Damon Wright, who was bound for Chicago, said he heard about some social media reports that the airport had no aviation fuel and all flights were being diverted.
But, Wright checked with Southwest and found his plane was taking off as scheduled.
"I came here and found nothing was wrong," Wright said.
Ditto for Buffalo businessman Mike Reilly, who was headed to Nashville.
"In the last five years, I've never had a problem and I do a lot of flying," Reilly said.
Diverting flights was never a consideration, Khatib said.
"They are working on the fuel system but we are in good shape," Khatib said.
The fuel farm is located on the eastern edge of the airport's sprawling 1,000-acre campus.
"My advice: If you have any questions, check with your airline," Khatib said. "Our check our website."
