Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - WKBW-TV Channel 7 announced Wednesday the passing of legendary weatherman 'Commander Tom' Jolls at the age of 89.
Jolls passed peacefully Wednesday, surrounded by family, at Buffalo Hospice in Cheektowaga.
Jolls was a household name in Buffalo and Western New York for a generation as the 'Tom' in 'Irv, Rick and Tom' the longtime top-rated news team on Channel 7.
The broadcast legend, a native of Lockport, was with WKBW for more than 30 years, joining the station in 1965 and retiring in 1999.
In addition to his weather duties, Jolls also hosted a daily children's show called, Commander Tom'.
