Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo has been in the epicenter of a blizzard since Friday and an intense lake effect snow band, combined with fierce winds, is leading to impossible travel conditions and stranding motorists on roadways.

Cars, some occupied and some abandoned, litter the roadways as snow removal crews work to maneuver around them and clear a path through the unwieldy drifts.

Powerful winds have pummeled the shoreline of Lake Erie and left buildings encrusted in ice from the freezing spray blowing off the lake.
