Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Getzville mom looking to get a treat for her daughter got a Whopper more than she bargained for. She claims her a Burger King burger her daughter received had blood on it.

Tiffany Floyd says she had taken her daughter to Burger King on Millersport Highway in Getzville.

"I was on my way home, I handed her the bag. And about a couple minutes later I heard from my backseat, 'Mommy, I didn't want ketchup.' So I grabbed her bag, thinking they just messed up our order. And when I went to go grab her hamburger, I noticed red wet liquid all over her bag, all over her food," said Floyd in an interview with WBEN.

That liquid turned out to be blood.

Floyd says her daughter had consumed a few French fries and one bite of her burger before saying something.

Shortly after, Floyd called the manager of the Burger King, who told her somebody did cut their hand right before preparing and bagging the food. She declined an offer to get her money refunded for her order, and then called the health department.

Floyd says she is seeking legal advice regarding the incident.

"My daughter and I both are so emotionally distraught right now," she said. "My daughter, all weekend, has not ate. She thinks everything that I give her has blood in it. Her pediatrician is seeing her first thing [Tuesday] morning because of this. Myself, my stomach has been in knots. It's just so distraught to think that somebody so careless did this."

According to Flynn, he 4-year-old will now have to get her bloodwork done every month up to a year to ensure she is fine. Her concerns are also mounting over her mental and emotional state in the months and years to come.

"Is this going to affect her eating from now on? She's already a picky eater, she's only 4-years-old. Is she not going to want to eat at certain places now? Is she gonna make you cook her food in front of her? This is all that I worry about," Floyd said.

Burger King issued the following statement:

"We were deeply upset and concerned to learn of this incident. We have been in contact with the guest, and are working with her to resolve this incident. This incident was the result of a team member in the restaurant who injured his finger, and upon noticing immediately stepped away. We closed the restaurant over the weekend to retrain all the team members and hired an external company to complete a deep cleaning. We expect the restaurant to re-open Monday, July 29, and are fully paying team members for any lost shifts during this temporary shut down."
