Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Green Organization plans to build a 122-unit apartment and townhome development on the site of a vacant Arbordale Nursery in Amherst, according to Buffalo Business First.

The organization has submitted a site plan application for the 5.17-acre parcel at 480 Dodge Road to the Town of Amherst Planning Board. The plan calls for two five-story apartment buildings with 52 units each and two townhome buildings with nine units each, along with 250 parking spaces.

On Wednesday, the Independent Health Foundation and the West Herr Auto Group announced a partnership to help bring health education, screenings, and resources into traditionally underserved communities across Western New York

The announcement comes one day after the U.S. Census Bureau released its latest numbers on poverty, which shows the poverty rate in 2022 rose to 12.4 percent, nearly a 5% increase from 2021, which is the largest one-year jump on record according to The New York Times

Partnerships like the one between the Independent Health Foundation and West Herr Auto Group help address issues of healthy inequity that stem in part from the increased poverty rate by reducing barriers to access health screenings and education.

Retech Systems LLC, which is headquartered on Northland Avenue, will expand its manufacturing capabilities and warehouse space by leasing from Uniland Development a facility at 175 Milens Road in the Town of Tonawanda, a $10 million dollar expansion for a company that makes titanium furnaces, according to Buffalo Business First
