Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Hamburg Town Supervisor Randy Hoak is leaving public office to take a job in the private sector. This after Hoak took office back in January 2022.

"I'm three years into my first term, and we've been able to do a lot of good work," said Hoak on Wednesday during an appearance on WBEN. "Another professional opportunity came up, and I'm very excited about moving on to a new chapter."

Hoak says when he started as town supervisor, there were a lot of turnovers. He was able to find a lot of top talent, and made some changes in local government. He says he'll miss the hardworking team at Hamburg Town Hall, but is sure their paths will cross again.

Regarding the new opportunity, Hoak says he cannot share any details at this time.

"After I decided to not seek re-election, I started to quietly look for another opportunity. I found something that will make good use of my talents," he added.

Hoak will continue to serve as Hamburg Town Supervisor until the Town Board appoints someone to fill the remainder of his term, which expires at the end of 2025. The board's reorganizational meeting is set for January 13.

An election for a full four-year term will be held next November.
