Buffalo, NY (WBEN) If you're looking for work, Amazon is looking to hire.
The online retail giant says it has 500 jobs in Western New York, and you won't have to wait long for an offer after you apply.
Across the country, Amazon says it will hire 150,000 seasonal employees at an average wage $18 an hour, with signing bonuses up to $3,000.
"For some who want to work off-shifts, up to an additional $3 and hour," says Ofori Agboka of Amazon. "We're excited to offer these flexible opportunities for people who are looking to pick up a few extra hours, a few extra days, work nights, that income flexibility is key to meet people where they want this holiday season."
Agboka says 500 employment opportunities will be available in the Lancaster and Tonawanda facilities.
"When people go to www.amazon.com/apply, they'll see not only our seasonal opportunities, they'll see fulfillment and transportation opportunities that are full time," says Agboka. "Some of the job titles are stowers, stockers, sorters, pickers, delivery, shipping, even as far as safety and HR roles."
Agboka says you can come with a clean slate. "You can be a high school graduate or someone who just turned 18 all the way to someone who just retired, was furloughed, you're all welcome," notes Agboka. He says you'll be trained on safety and performance standards.
Once you apply, Agboka says you'll get a contingent job offer almost immediately. He adds Amazon will pay full college tuition for employees.
