BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN)......One of the oldest and most storied mansions in the Elmwood Village has landed new owners.
The former Edward Ellsworth House at 325 Summer Street was acquired by local investors 325 Summer Street LLC, who paid $899,000 for the five-bedroom, circa 1891 era mansion.
78 West Holdings LLC had owned the house.
The house went on the market earlier this year and attracted a lot of attention, said Gurney Becker & Bourne agent Tracey Heneghan, who along fellow GBB agent Kristan Andersen handled the sale
Plans for the house - designed in a Greek Revival architectural fashion - are still being worked on and should be finalized soon.
Ellsworth, a Buffalo businessman who owned H&O Cereal Co., had the house built as his private residence in 1891. While he lived there, Ellsworth hosted a wide range of dignitaries and local leaders.
Since his death in 1911, the house has had a number of uses including serving as an apartment building, a school and an AirBnB.
