Albany, NY (WBEN) The waiting and wondering for Buffalo Bills fans continues as to when a deal may be struck between the Bills, New York State and Erie County on a new lease and new stadium plan.

During Friday's COVID19 briefing, Governor Hochul addressed a question regarding talks about the stadium for the Bills, offering an encouraging sign of continued progress. She did not, however, give a timeline.

Hochul says she sat down with the Pegulas about that. "When there's 18 inches of snow on the ground, a dome always sounds better, but I believe the culture of the Buffalo experience to have the outdoor," says Hochul. She says the two sides went over various options. "It was determined the preference was Orchard Park, and also keep it open air as part of the Buffalo Bravado," says Hochul.

With regards to stadium negotiations, Hochul says the conversations are ongoing. "There is not a date certain other than the next few months where it has to be completed," says Hochul. While she wants it done sooner than later, Hochul says she prefers it's done in the smartest way possible, so she will take any extra time to get the deal done right.

There was no mention of the stadium during her State of the State address Wednesday.
