A surge of chilly air will spread across much of the eastern United States, bringing frost risk to some northern areas and unusually cool, conditions through the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issues a Frost Advisory for much of Western New York for early Friday, and warns similar conditions may prevail both Saturday and Sunday, National Weather Service forecasters say.
Temperatures through Friday will average 10 to 15 degrees below normal, into the 30's overnight and only in the mid to upper 40's daytime.
"Temperatures, especially daytime highs in the Midwest and Northeast, will run several to 10 degrees below average," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bob Larson said.

A cold airmass for this time of year will sweep across the eastern Great Lakes region from late in the week through the weekend, forecasters say. Daily maximum and minimum temperatures will average 10 to 15 degrees below normal Friday night through Saturday night. Low temperatures are expected to fall into the 30's and even the 20's across the higher terrain both Friday night and again Saturday night.
Additional frost or freeze advisories may been needed during this time for areas where the growing season begins on May 1. This applies to all areas with the exception of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
