Ellicottville, NY (WBEN) - There's a giant 'erector set' project underway in the southern tier as crews are dismantling the four seated Mardi Gras chairlift, and replacing it with a six seat chairlift.
The goal is to have the massive project complete by the popular Fall Fest in October.
Dash Hegeman says the high speed six seat chairlift will be extremely advantageous for Holiday Valley and it patrons. "We'll be able to move more people out of the base area and up to the top of the resort quickly, which will help the flow pattern down below," says Hegeman. He says having something new and technologically advanced is exciting.
Hegeman says the projected completion date is before Fall Fest, "So that we can take all of our enthusiastic Fall Fest guests up to the top of Mardi Gras so that they can celebrate the Fall Festival with our normal amazing scenery and music and good times up there," he notes. Fall Fest is scheduled for October 7th and 8th.
Hegeman says a Facebook page is up to show progress.
What to do with an old quad chairlift? After dismantling, it's being packed-up and transported to a resort in Chile.
