Lake View, N.Y. (WBEN) - It may take days to get an answer to what caused a fatal home explosion on West Lane in the Hamlet of Lake View on Monday night.

"They're leaving no stone unturned," said Hamburg emergency manager Sean Crotty during an appearance with WBEN on Tuesday.

The investigation will not just involve town officials, but utilities and the Public Service Commission as well.

"The Public Service Commission is part of the process that National Fuel, who services that residence, they have the obligation and the procedure in their crisis management protocol that they have to notify the Public Service Commission that they have to investigate as well. They're making sure their infrastructure's safe," said Crotty. "We brought our subject matter experts in to ensure that the adjacent residences' power and gas is safe for them to go back in to those residences."

For that reason, Crotty does not expect to have a cause of the explosion in the coming hours on Tuesday.

It is also still to be determined when neighboring houses will be able to be occupied again.
