BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN)....Former Buffalo AKG Art Gallery executive director Janne Siren has sold his North Buffalo house.
The Finnish-born Siren ended his productive 13 year tenure at the renowned Buffalo art museum earlier this summer.
Siren sold his five-bedroom, 106-year-old house at 234 Depew Avenue.for $1.6 million,
The deal is the 88th house in Erie County, this year, to sell for more than $1 million
For Buffalo, it is the ninth private residence, this year, to sell for north of the $1 million benchmark - a key economic threshold in the region's residential real estate industry.
Erie County is on pace to see 110 homes sell this year for more than $1 million which would top the 105 houses in Erie County that sold last year.
Siren, who was the Buffalo AKG's Peggy Pierce Elvin director, was replaced by Jillian Jones as executive director and Cathleen Chaffee as artistic director and chief curator.
During his tenure in Buffalo, Siren oversaw the gallery's expansion that was completed three years ago, brought numerous new exhibits to the museum and also saw its endowment rise from $31.3 million to nearly $80 million.
