Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - One of the lead members of the Buffalo-based band Goo Goo Dolls, John Rzeznik, has been hospitalized in South Africa with pneumonia. This has prompted the band to postpone its tour of South Africa until March.

In a post on the group's X page, formerly known as Twitter, Rzeznik is heartbroken to postpone the shows.

"Sadly, my doctor has advised rest and recovery," posted Rzeznik. "I’m truly sorry that I cannot be there, but I wound up going to the doctor and I have pneumonia, and they checked me into the hospital. I’m stuck here for a day or two. But we’re working on getting back down there as fast as we can."

The Goo Goo Dolls' tour is rescheduled for the week of March 25, with three shows in South Africa.

The Goos are scheduled to return to their hometown of Buffalo with a show in August at KeyBank Center.
