Lancaster, N.Y. (WBEN) - Police in Lancaster are investigating a shooting Wednesday morning at the residence of an off-duty Lancaster Police Officer.

According to police, officers responded to the report of a shooting at 296 Enchanted Forest North at approximately 5:48 a.m. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a shooting occurred, and learned the victim was already being transported to a local hospital.

Multiple individuals were present at the residence at the time of the incident, including the off-duty officer.

A 22-year-old female victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital a short time later.

The Buffalo Police Department says they were made aware this morning of one of their probationary police officers (PPO) being present at the shooting incident while he was off-duty. That prompted an immediate response from the Buffalo Police Internal Affairs Division.

The PPO involved was suspended with pay, as the ongoing investigation looks into the facts of what occurred.
