Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN).....Buoyed by the success with the initial residential developments across the sprawling Muir Woods complex, Ciminelli Development and Ryan Homes are teaming up to add 160 townhomes to the Amherst community.
Coming soon - perhaps by mid-summer - will be the Townhomes @ Muir Woods, a $60 million development being undertaken by Ryan Homes and Ciminelli.
"We think there is a strong appeal for townhomes in Amherst," said Paul Ciminelli, chairman of the Buffalo-based, family-owned real estate development company.
The townhomes are the latest in a series of residential-anchored developments along the Muir Woods complex that runs parallel to the I-990 Expressway.
Ciminelli and Ryan, previously teamed up to develop the 148-lot, single family home The Preserve at Muir Woods subdivision.
As a prelude to beginning construction on the townhome project, a Ciminelli-affiliate -777 JJAP LLC paid $2,030,000 for the 18-acre vacant parcel that runs between 770 John James Audubon Parkway and 790 John James Audubon Parkway.
Ciminelli said the townhomes will average 1,500-square-feet. The sale price, per townhome, has yet to be determined.
Each of the townhomes will come with two bedrooms and a garage.
The entire build out could take between three years and four years.
"The Preserve actually went ahead of schedule," Ciminelli said.
Another development within the Muir Woods campus - Aspen Heights - a 197-unit student housing complex - also leased up ahead of schedule.
