Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A unique viewing experience is set to hit your local movie theatre this weekend, featuring one of the most popular musical artists in the world.

"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" is a new movie premiering Friday in theatres that documents pop star Taylor Swift during her stop in Inglewood, California to play three shows at SoFi Stadium.

It's an experience that local theatres like the Aurora Theatre in East Aurora are eagerly waiting to see.

"Honestly, so much excitement between myself, the staff and everybody that's gonna be coming to watch it. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun," said Julia Foit, general manager of the Aurora Theatre. "It's a great way to be able to experience the concert without having to actually be able to go to it."

Given Swift's popularity in the industry, it is very difficult for many people be able to experience her live at a concert along her Eras Tour. The closest Swift is expected to be to Buffalo will be next November when she plays six shows in Toronto, with tickets already exceeding $1,000 each on most nights.

Foit feels a concert movie such as this is a nice alternative, and will become more of a trend going forward, especially with the popular artists like Swift.

"I think it's going to be a pretty popular thing that artists will be doing further with all the people that like to watch them and see them. It's a good way for them to be able to get their experience of their shows to people without having people to have to spend an 'X' amount of money to be able to go," Foit said. "Not everybody, unfortunately, is able to be able to spend that kind of money to go to these places."

On top of that, Foit believes these concert viewing experiences will do wonders for the movie theatre industry as well.

"It's gonna be a different experience. It's a much different type of movie than what we're used to, but it's a lot of fun. Any type of different showings that we can do is always great," she said.

So what are the expectations for Friday night's opening at the Aurora Theatre?

"As of right now for tomorrow, we have over 100 tickets pre-sold," Foit said. "So it's going to be pretty busy on the evenings, for sure, I think."
