North Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's the most romantic time of the year, and lovebirds are flocking to Platter's Chocolate Factory to get a treat for their special someone.
Co-owner of Platter's, Heidi Urban, says the biggest hit is their limited edition Valentine's Day chocolate covered strawberries.
"We do it once a year, the three days around Valentine's Day, and in these three days, we're going to make over 500 pounds of chocolate covered strawberries," stated Urban. "We started yesterday, so we did about 100 pounds yesterday, and it will and today and tomorrow, we're going to be doing a lot of berries."
Besides the strawberries, Urban says things like their assorted chocolates are flying off of the shelves.
"Valentine's Day is turning into a holiday that's not just for your sweetheart, but also for your kids or your work buddies. So we do a lot of little trinket things, like a little I love you sucker or Happy Valentine's Day bar, a couple of novelties, chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles on them that are Valentine themed. We've got a lot of little novels like that. So if you want to just gift a little something to someone special, we have those things as well," explained Urban.
Urban explains that Platter’s is well prepared for the weekend and excited to help make someone’s day special.
"We're going to have an array of chocolates. We still have a lot of stuff that we that you can pick up for your sweetheart. We'll still have a lot of Valentine's stuff, and you can stop in and get your chocolate covered strawberries today or tomorrow, and we would love to see you."
