Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - One person has been arrested after a stabbing outside of Lafayette High School in the City of Buffalo on Tuesday morning.

Buffalo police say they responded to a call alerting them to a fight outside of the high school just after 8 a.m. ET.

Northwest District officers and School Resource Officers responded to the call, where they found two males involved in a dispute when one male stabbed the other.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia says the two knew each other from a video game console sale where payment was allegedly not made.

"The victim apparently spotted the suspect outside the school, confronted him, and that escalated to a fight that led to the stabbing," said Gramaglia on Tuesday.

The victim is a 19-year-old former student at Lafayette. The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Harun Sabriye, a current student.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center to be treated for apparent non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect suffered a slashing injury.

Sabriye has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Assault.

A Buffalo Public Schools spokesperson released the following statement on Tuesday:

"The Buffalo Public Schools are supporting the Buffalo Police Department's criminal investigation into an altercation between two male individuals that occurred outside and before school at Lafayette International PS 207 when one male stabbed the other. According to the initial reports, non-life-threatening injuries were sustained by the individuals. One individual was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). The other individual sustained a slashing injury. Fortunately, others were not hurt.

"Superintendent Dr. Tonja Williams has directed Crisis Prevention and Response Staff to be onsite at the school to provide support to students and staff. As this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we cannot comment further at this time."
