Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) – Orchard Park police have made an arrest following a hit-and-run incident outside Highmark Stadium on Sunday night, which occurred around 7:45 p.m.
A passerby reported seeing a gray Dodge pickup truck leaving the scene after hitting a man on Abbott Road, just north of the stadium.
Officers located the pickup, which had passenger-side damage, as it turned onto Milestrip Road. They say the driver attempted to flee but was hindered by heavy traffic.
Officers forced the driver out of the vehicle and took him into custody. Thirty-one-year-old Anthony Mayo of North Tonawanda is charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
Police say Mayo refused to take a breath test. He was arraigned in the Town of Orchard Park court.
The 39-year-old victim, a resident of Rochester, was treated at the scene and then transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
