Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Buffalo man was arraigned over the weekend on a charge he fatally shot his girlfriend.
36-year-old Ramone James was arraigned Sunday in Buffalo City Court on one count of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
At around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Buffalo police officers responded to a residence on the first block of MacAmley Street after receiving a 9-1-1 call. The victim, a 32-year-old female, was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where she died the next day.
Prosecutors say James shot her with an illegal weapon.
According to prosecutors, investigators executed a search warrant Sunday at a residence on Kiefer Street in the City of Buffalo. Police say they recovered an illegal pistol, and James was taken into custody.
James is scheduled to return for a felony hearing on Friday, Aug. 7 at 9:30 a.m. He was held without bail.
If convicted of the charge, James faces a maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison.
