Man dies after rescuing others in fire

Fire broke out in Concord around 5am
A man died in a fire early Monday morning in Concord. Sheriff's deputies say the man rescued others from the burning home before succumbing.

Concord, NY (WBEN) A man died in a fire early Monday morning in Concord. Erie County Sheriff's Deputies say the man rescued others from the burning home before succumbing.

Around 5am, deputies responded to the report of a fire at a residential structure on Tarn Trail. The East Concord Fire Department, Springville Fire Department, Morton’s Corners Fire Department, Colden Fire Company, Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Company and Boston Fire Company were concurrently dispatched to the home.

Deputies say they arrived to see the structure fully engulfed. Five people were on the property at the time of the fire. The preliminary investigation has determined that a 57-year-old male was unable to escape the home after helping other residents get out. His body was later discovered and removed from the structure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit.
The investigation is ongoing.
