Man shot on Donaldson Road on Wednesday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo police have made an arrest in a shooting that happened last night in the first block of Donaldson Road.

Officers responded at around 10:45 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center with serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

Responding officers determined that a vehicle fled the scene following the shooting, and a suspect was located at Humboldt Parkway and E. Ferry Street shortly thereafter. The suspect was apprehended and two weapons were recovered from the vehicle - a loaded, defaced Hipoint .45 ACP and a loaded Smith &Wesson G2C .40 caliber pistol.

56-year-old Robert Bates of Buffalo has been charged with:

• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C felony);
• One count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class D felony);
• One count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (Class D felony);
• One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D felony);
• One count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (Class E felony);
• Two counts of Failure to Safely Store a Firearm in the First Degree (Class A misdemeanor).
