BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced that the city will invest more than $10.9 million towards various transportation infrastructure projects as part of his capital budget proposal.

Among the streets that will be upgraded next year under the plan include Lafayette Avenue, Chippewa Street, Franklin Street, and Court Street. There will also be upgrades to the Ohio Street lift bridge.

Brown said there were some projects that were delayed in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those projects will be part of the city's upgrades in 2021, which is part of the reason why the capital budget is $1.6 million more in 2021 than it was in 2020.

"This is going to be two years of spending and for a two-year period of time, we are still below City Comptroller Barbara Miller Williams' bond cap," Brown said. "We're being very fiscally conservative in this capital budget, making sure that we can pay our bills and that we have the resources to move forward, even given COVID-19. We have been very conservative but very creative in developing this capital budget."
