With the Buffalo Sabres advancing to the second round of the NHL Playoffs to face the Montreal Canadiens, fans have been vocal about looking for more options to watch the away games in a way similar to the outdoor watch parties provided at Canalside for the home games.
The City of Buffalo and Mayor Sean Ryan are taking note.
"We're talking to the Sabres, trying to figure out what we can do," Ryan told WBEN on Hardline Sunday. "Remember years ago, when the Sabres went far into the spring, they played the away games at the Bisons field."
For the first round of the playoffs, an away game watch party was held at the Buffalo Creek Casino, as well as numerous private watch parties and area bars and night clubs.
But, based on social media activity during the Canadiens-Lightning game 7 Sunday night when the Canadiens in-arena watch party was showed on the broadcast, fans are hoping for more options for a mass watching option.
"If we keep winning, we're going to have more opportunities to view the games in a different way," Ryan said, with no specifics to offer.
The mayor also foreshadowed another fan opportunity that may take place outside Buffalo City Hall.
"We're also talking to the Blade Gang Guys, to see if we can get them down to city hall and maybe do a skate with them from city hall down to the arena."
Stay tuned.
