East Aurora, N.Y. (WBEN) - As it marks its 75th anniversary, East Aurora-based Moog has welcomed its latest technology-driven manufacturing center and is already eying future expansions of its corporate headquarters campus.
Moog, on Aug. 14, officially opened its 150,000-square-foot Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) center - a $150 million investment where 160 people will work. The center marries 21st century technology with advancing manufacturing and robotics.
The center will serve for many of Moog's (NYSE: MOG A and MOG B) defense and aviation clients.
"What we build here in Western New York keeps people safe," said Pat Roche, Moog president and CEO.
Founded in 1951 by the late Bill Moog, who invented a specialized servo value, the company has grown to more than 14,000 employees including 4,300 in its various Western New York operations in East Aurora, Elma and Niagara Falls.
Through a diverse range of clients including military, NASA, aviation and even F-1 cars, Moog had revenues of $3.9 billion last year and are pacing towards $4.3 million this year.
In the past few years, including AIM center Moog has invested more than $300 million in local expansions - but more is coming, Roche said.
The AIM center can be expanded to 405,000-square-foot building, and that will likely happen sooner rather than later, Roche said.
"This facility represents much more than a building," Roche said. "It's an investment in innovation. It's an investment in workforce development and. in the future of our company."
With each expansion, Moog has added more employees.
Last year, the company hired 500 new workers.
