More of Niagara County, including Niagara Falls, given "Yellow Zone" status by NYS

Parts of Genesee County also given yellow zone status

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – More parts of Niagara County are now under the state's yellow zone restrictions.

The yellow zone is largely precautionary, though there are limits on gatherings at houses of worship. Businesses are allowed to stay open under a yellow zone. Indoor and outdoor dining is still allowed.

The City of Niagara Falls and Lockport are among the areas in the yellow zone.

Parts of Genesee County, including the City of Batavia, are now in the yellow zone. Genesee County is considered part of the Finger Lakes region, which has the highest hospitalization rate in the state.

Governor Cuomo said Western New York is flattening in its positivity rate. 7.8% of people tested positive on Saturday, according to the latest state data, though the seven-day positive rate is nearly a percentage point lower.
