Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Demolition resumed Thursday morning at Mulligan’s Brick Bar in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood after crews began tearing down the structure on Wednesday, but had to halt work due to equipment failure.

City officials report that the majority of the building has now been demolished. The Permit and Inspection Services team is on-site, assessing and salvaging artifacts identified for preservation in the history museum.

Allen Street has re-opened to one lane between Elmwood and Wadsworth. Crews will continue working over the next few days to complete the demolition and clear debris.

The project is expected to be finished by next week.

In a statement, city officials are urging residents to stay away from the site:

"We remind members of the community to respect the owner’s property during this challenging time and refrain from trespassing on the site or attempting to remove anything from the property."

Flames engulfed the building early Sunday morning. The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.
