Wellsville, N.Y. (WBEN) - A mother and her 6-year-old child are dead following an ATV rollover in the Town of Wellsville in Allegany County.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, New York State Police out of Belmont responded to an ATV rollover with possible fatalities on Niles Hill Road.
An investigation has determined a 2003 Polaris Trail Boss 4-wheeler, operated by 38-year-old Ashley Robichaud with her two children - 6- and 3-year-old - were traveling the fence line of a pasture. When the Polaris was at the lowest point of elevation in the pasture, it overturned, pinning Ashley and the 6-year-old, Emersyn Robichaud, underneath the Polaris.
Ashley and Emersyn were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 3-year-old was transported by Mercy Flight to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester for non-life-threatening injuries.
This is still an active investigation.
