Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 31-year-old mother and her two-and a half year old daughter are dead after a ferocious fire overnight on Weiss Street in Buffalo.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo says flames engulfed the home and firefighters were forced to retreat and battle the blaze from an upstears window. "Just inside that bedroom window is where the victims were found," Renaldo told reporters later Monday morning.
FBNY (@FireBuffNY) was on the scene overnight and captured dramatic video of the flames. The fire broke out at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Multiple fire companies responded to the blaze, and about 60 firefighters were on the scene of the fire that reportedly left about $225,000 in damage.
Four firefighters were taken to ECMC to be treated. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however Renaldo says there is no reason to believe the fire was suspicious in nature.
There were no smoke detectors in the home, said Renaldo.
Firefighters are internalizing the tragedy in their own ways, said Renaldo. "If you've been on the job for long enough, you're going to see a lot of things you want to 'unsee'."
