Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - Multiple teenagers were taken into custody Friday after being tracked down in a stolen vehicle in the Town of Cheektowaga.
Sheriff's deputies working an Operation Key Fob detail tracked the vehicle to the area of Genesee Street after the vehicle had been reported stolen Thursday out of the Town of Amherst.
After deputies boxed the vehicle in, the 18-year-old operator attempted to evade arrest by maneuvering the vehicle over a curb. However, this caused one of the tires to detach from the vehicle. The disabled stolen vehicle continued on for a short distance before crashing into a parked vehicle.
Two occupants - the driver Jermaine Bryant of Buffalo and an adolescent offender - attempted to flee on foot, but were taken into custody. Three additional occupants - 18-year-olds Justin Floyd and Jaymir Jackson of Buffalo, and another adolescent offender -remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody.
No injuries were reported.
Bryant is facing multiple charges, including:
- Third-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property
- Fourth-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property
- Third-degree Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
- Second-degree Obstruction of Governmental Administration
- Resisting Arrest
- Fourth-degree Criminal Mischief (2 counts)
- Reckless Driving
- Third-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation
- Multiple VTL Infractions
Floyd, Jackson and one of the adolescent offenders are facing third-degree Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, while the other adolescent offender that fled from the scene is facing charges of Resisting Arrest, second-degree Obstruction of Governmental Administration and third-degree Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
This is the third stolen vehicle deputies have recovered in the last 24 hours.
