Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Former Nardin Academy president Sandra Betters has filed a lawsuit against the school alleging defamation and breach of contract, according to multiple media outlets.
Betters had stepped down from her position following months of protests from students and criticism from donors that claimed the school had a toxic environment.
Nardin Board of Trustees Vice Chair Anita P. Baird responded to the lawsuit Friday morning:
"With respect to the recent legal action filed by Nardin's former president, we will defend Nardin energetically and truthfully."
The first day of classes at Nardin is Wednesday, Sept. 6.
