Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - With cold weather remaining constant in Western New York, AAA is utilizing National Battery Day to remind motorists how to keep their batteries running all season long.
Feb. 18 marks National Battery Day, a day where car companies are focused on bringing consumers awareness to their car's battery life, and how to check it.
"Did you know that a car battery loses a third of its power in freezing temperatures? The life of a car battery in the Western and Central New York region is three to five years", according to AAA.
Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications for AAA of Western and Central NY, Elizabeth Carey highlights that driving regularly is the best way to keep your car battery in good working condition.
AAA shared numerous tips for checking a car battery, and practices to avoid a battery break down. These included checking your battery during routine check-ins like an oil change, and seek assistance if the vehicle cranks slowly when trying to start, or headlights dim when idling.
These tips are sure to keep car batteries running smoothly all season long.
