Excitement over the Buffalo Bills' first practices at the new Highmark Stadium is being tempered by frustration from some fans.
While the team is reserving the Blue and Red Practice exclusively for season ticket (PSL) holders on August 8, it plans to welcome the general public on August 18.
It's prompting questions about fairness and access to the team's long awaited new home.
"It's a tough space to navigate," said Sal Capaccio, Bills beat reporter for WGR.
"A few things need to be clarified. Number one, the Return of the Blue & Red has always been a season ticket holder event. The difference is that there were always more seats in the old stadium and it was general admission. It was a lot easier to get in for the general public. It won't be this time," he said.
Tickets (which are free) for the second practice on August 18, go on sale July 21 at 10am through Ticketmaster.
"I'm assuming they're expecting a sell out," said Capaccio. "I think they want as many people in the stadium as possible.
From there, Sal added that all bets are off when it comes to these free tickets being put on the secondary market and where prices go.
"This is not going to be easy for any event that is happening there. I think this will be the case for the next few years. There is going to be some sort of discourse, like this, for different events. Outdoor hockey, concerts, college football games, soccer and lacrosse games. I don't know if every PSL owner is aware, but PSL owners don't always get the first right to buy their seat. They will for every Bills game; pre-season, regular season and playoff game; but not for every concert and other outside events."
