NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WBEN).....A pair of separate development projects - both slated for Niagara Falls - could see an apartment complex constructed and a vacant, former industrial building revived.
Both projects are vying for tax breaks from the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.
The projects:
* Peter Certo Corp. is proposing to demolish a pair of single family homes at 5700 and 5710 Porter Road to make way for two neighboring apartment/townhome buildings - each with 11 units.
The project carries an estimated $7.13 million development price tag.
* Hellner Development Co. of Middleport is planning to turn the long vacant, former Kanthal Globar building at 3435 Hyde Park Boulevard into a complex anchored by warehouse and light manufacturing tenants.
The project will help fill a regional need for additional warehouse and light manufacturing space where there is just a 2.5% vacancy rate on more than 68 million square feet of available space.
Hellner Development said it may be investing $2.14 million in renovating the 82-year-old building.
The NCIDA directors will begin their review of both projects during their July 8 meeting.
