CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WBEN)......Niagara Power Transformer has taken another step forward as a prelude to its $71 million, multi-phase expansion plans.
Niagara Power has paid $500,000 for a vacant nearly 6,000-square-foot building at 37 Anderson Road in Cheektowaga. Niagara Power will use the building for offices as its expansion advances.
Niagara Power will be adding 96,000-square-feet to its existing 121,000-square-foot Dale Road plant - a move that will allow the company to increase its production by 45%, officials say.
The Erie County Industrial Development Agency's directors, when they meet on Sept. 23, will consider a $1.7 million incentive package that is critical for the expansion to move forward,
The company will also be adding at least 73 new employees to its existing 146-person workforce.
Niagara Power produces high-tech industrial transformers. The century-old firm was acquired two years ago by the publicly traded Quanta Services, a Houston-based firm with nearly $30 billion in annual sales.
