Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Flood warnings and heavy storms have passed following an active Sunday that also saw a tornado warning issued for part of Niagara County. Forecasters say conditions will improve Monday with a chance for storms later in the week.
"The hardest hit areas yesterday were Niagara and Orleans Counties with multiple rounds of heavy thunderstorms. Pockets of 2-4 inches of rain fell there with several road closures," National Weather Service meteorologist Tony Ansuini tells WBEN. Portions of the Metro area, including Buffalo, received more than 2" of rain.
Monday morning showers will give way to sunshine and cooler temps in the 70s. The sun will stick around Tuesday with low humidity and temperatures around 80 degrees.
"Then we get into a more unsettled pattern again from mid- to the end part of the week with daily chances of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday, Thursday and Friday."
As for Sunday's tornado warnings, Ansuini says there's no evidence a tornado touched down.
