North Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) - It would appear that August is the month of corn for Western New York. The inaugural NT Corn Fest was announced Tuesday by North Tonawanda officials.
"This will be a fun day event not only for Niagara County, but the whole Western New York community," says Chris DelPrince, North Tonawanda City Market Manager.
"This exciting new event aims to highlight the exceptional taste of the Niagara County corn cultivated by our farmers of the North Tonawanda City Market. Located near the shores of Lake Ontario and benefiting from the unique soil conditions, the farmers of the NT Market pride themselves on producing all the best grapes for wine, strawberries, apples, peaches, and of course, outstanding sweet corn. They declare that our corn grown in Niagara County stands out as the best tasting corn in Western New York."

According to DelPrince, the NT City Market was recently voted the second best market in New York State and 13th-best in New York State.
The festival will be filled with a great number of corn-related events and viewing experiences for kids and adults to enjoy, such as a cornhole tournament, corn-eating contest, corn husking contest and a best corn dish contest.
In addition, enjoy a variety of food, corn or otherwise, as well as the wine and beer garden. Live music will be performed on the main stage from R&B funk party band, Nickel City Pimp Choir. The main stage will also showcase a butter making demonstration from Sunny Grove Farm.
"The festival also holds a charitable purpose with all proceeds benefiting two worthy non for profit organizations, the North Tonawanda Athletic Association and also Western New York Heroes," adds DelPrince.
Western New Yorkers can now attend two corn festivals in the area. Corn Fest in North Tonawanda is on Aug. 19, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET at The Market in the Square and Eden's Corn Festival in Erie County, going on from August 3-6.
