BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN).....A growing congregation has led to a prominent East Side religious organization to buy a historic church from another church-related group.
Northeastern Conference Corporation of Seventh Day Adventist bought a church at 115 Gold Street from the Spirit of Truth Ministry, paying $650,000, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's Office.
Northeastern Conference is relocating from leased Genesee Street space while Spirt of Truth is relocating.
The 24,000-square-foot building , that dates back 1900, is a Gold Street landmark and can seat up to 500 people in its main sanctuary.
The church made headlines during the pre-Christmas 2022 blizzard as it housed more than 100 stranded motorists and nearby residents who lost power in the storm.
Northeastern Conference is part of nationwide congregation with more 176 locations and 15 parochial schools.
