Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - It was a race too close to call on Tuesday night during Election Night festivities, but by the absolute slimmest of margins, Brian Nowak has claimed victory in his race for Cheektowaga Town Supervisor.

The Democratic representative in the race for Cheektowaga Supervisor claimed the electoral win on Wedensday by just 47 votes over his Republican challenger and fellow Cheektowaga Town Board member, Michael Jasinski. According to the Erie County Board of Elections, 100% of the votes have been tabulated in the race for Town Supervisor in Cheektowaga.

“I want to start by thanking the voters of Cheektowaga for putting their faith in me this year, and state that I’m confident my lead will remain once all remaining absentees are counted," said Nowak in a statement released Wednesday morning. "I also want to congratulate Jerry Kaminski, along with all the other Democratic council candidates, on a hard fought and well-run race.

"I’m grateful mostly to my family, the Erie County Democratic Committee, and countless others who knocked doors and supported my campaign. I’m looking forward to January and beginning the work as Town Supervisor."

Nowak is set to take over for current Town Supervisor Diane Benczkowski come Jan. 1, 2024 when her term expires. She did not run for re-election on the ballot this year.
