Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 19 year old man was shot after attempting to steal a car in North Buffalo.
Shortly before 6 p.m. EST on January 9, officers responded to a call of a person shot near Shoreham Parkway and Delaware Ave.
Officers located 19-year-old Dorian Jones, who was shot.
During an investigation, it was determined that Jones was alleged to have robbed a victim by displaying a pellet gun while taking the vehicle, a 2010 Mercedes.
The vehicle still had the victim’s 13-year-old kid inside, while a second juvenile, 15, was with the victim outside of the vehicle. The investigation determined that the victim, an off-duty Niagara Falls Police Officer, discharged his weapon striking the suspect at least once.
Jones was transported to ECMC for non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicle was located around the corner on Wilbury Place where the juvenile was safely located.
Jones remains in police custody and is charged with two counts of Robbery in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The investigation continues as police are looking for a second suspect who was present during the robbery.
