(Royalton, NY - WBEN) A tragic accident Wednesday evening in the Niagara County Town of Royalton claimed the life of one young child.
Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were called to the intersection of Lewiston Road and Griswold Street.
Authorities say a car going south on Griswold failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with an SUV carrying 7 family members - two adults and 5 children.
The adults in the SUV were taken to ECMC. Four of the children were transported by ambulance and Mercy Flight to Oishei Children's Hospital. A fifth child from that vehicle was transported by ambulance to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport - that child later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The sole occupant of the other vehicle was taken by ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
No names have been released, pending notification of family.
The accident is under investigation.
