Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) Orchard Park Police arrest a man they say tried to break into parked vehicles.
Around 4:30 yesterday morning police say a man was checking door handles on Powers Road near Scherff.
Police say 33 year old Cody Cook entered a dark colored SUV onto Scheff Road, where police tried to stop him.
Police say Cook drove off at a high rate of speed, but crashed into a tree at Wildwood Lane. Cook was captured after a brief foot chase.
Cook was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, and nine Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Cook was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to return to Orchard Park Town Court at a later date. Additionally, stolen property belonging to local residents was recovered from the vehicle.
Additional charges are pending.
