BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – When asked about the accusations against Governor Andrew Cuomo, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said he was "mad" when he heard of accusations in which the governor acknowledged comments that were inappropriate.
"I'd never think about saying that to one of my employees," Poloncarz said. "I don't even think about saying that to some of my friends, nevertheless ask them about their sex lives."
The latest accusation against the governor came Monday night when a woman claimed the governor tried to kiss her shortly after meeting her at a New York City wedding reception.
"The one word that came up to me is creepy," Poloncarz said, adding the governor's alleged improprieties were not illegal. "It was just creepy to know the governor allegedly asked a woman who he just met 'May I kiss you?' and put his hands on the head of the individual."
Poloncarz said he's seen instances of Cuomo publicly embracing and touching people by putting his hands on their head.
"He can be a touchy-feely politician and some people love it," Poloncarz said. "I've seen people absolutely melt when the governor does that. I think most people know I'm not the most touchy-feely politician and the biggest back slapper. It's just not my nature. For some people it is."
The county executive was supportive of Attorney General Letitia James' investigation into the governor but said Cuomo should not be allowed to receive weekly updates on the investigation, saying it's inappropriate.
"If it's determined that the governor sexually harassed individuals that worked for him, it's exceptionally serious and he may have to resign at that point," Poloncarz said.
