Reed, Langworthy pleased to hear of probe against Cuomo

NYS GOP chair calls for impeachment of governor

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Both New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy and Congressman Tom Reed say they're pleased a federal investigation is ongoing into the alleged coverup of nursing home death data by the Cuomo administration. Langworthy is calling for an impeachment of Cuomo.

Langworthy told reporters in Albany and Rochester, "We are witnessing the unraveling of a coverup and the implosion of a lying and corrupt governor," says Langworthy. He says Cuomo only cares about his own publicity and power.

"His deadly order forced COVID positive patients out of hospitals and into nursing homes with our most vulnerable New Yorkers. These are hospitals who had a direct line to the governor, with hospital bosses paying handsomely for that access," says Langworthy. "He lied to every New Yorker, he lied to America. He won an Emmy, but it was a performance that was built on the coffins of 15,000 New York State senior citizens."

Langworthy says it's time for impeachment articles to be drawn up. "New York officials have been forced out of office for much less. This is worse than Troopergate, this is worse than having a staffer drive your wife around, this is worse than a governor not paying for Yankees tickets, and it's worse than being client number 9," notes Langworthy.

Congressman Tom Reed says he is pleased to hear of the federal investigation, and he's asking his Washington colleagues for help. "Using the tools of the Ways and Means Committee, working in a bipartisan matter, we will make sure we get the complete truth when it comes to the data related to this nursing home situation," says Reed. "We are also pursuing a direct federal complaint to specifically look at (Melissa) DeRosa and the taped confession she gave to the New York Post and her colleagues in the State Assembly and Senate when she got into the details of the order itself."

Reed says the complaint will be directed to the issue of what DeRosa and Cuomo know and when, as well as what direct influence hospital lobbyists had over Cuomo. "A tremendous amount have questions have yet to be answered. We have some indications in the work we have been doing that DeRosa knows more about this exchange of information that happened in March of 2020," says Reed.

Reed says he'll use every tool at his disposal to make sure justice is done.
