Remote learning resumes Wednesday for BPS

All staff to report to regular sites

Sedita Elementary

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Buffalo Public Schools announce all students will have remote learning on Wednesday. All staff will report. This as the district deals with a ransomware incident Friday.

"Wednesday, March 17th, all district and school based staff will report to their respective sites. Students will remain at home and log on at their usual time for a full day of remote synchronous and asynchronous instruction," says Superintendent Kriner Cash, who adds in a statement he will give a comprehensive update at the Board of Education meeting.

Classes were canceled Friday after the ransomware attack was discovered. "We are actively working with cybersecurity experts, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement to fully investigate this criminal cybersecurity attack. Although the investigation into this security incident is ongoing, our comprehensive investigative team has identified key findings related to its root cause and potential overall impact to BPS systems. Meanwhile, IT will continue to provide staff with training and information to safeguard against cybersecurity threats to personally identifiable information," says Cash.

Classes were canceled Monday and Tuesday as well.
