(WBEN) - New reports are shedding light on the book deal Governor Andrew Cuomo signed in the midst of the pandemic.

The New York Times reports that Cuomo was offered $4 Million to write the book 'American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic.'

The report states that Cuomo used top aide Melissa DeRosa, and other resources of his office to help with the book's manuscript. According to the Buffalo News, a state ethics agency that gave Cuomo permission to write the book specifically told him not to to use state personnel.

The Times report goes into detail on how the book was being developed and written at the same time  top aides were worried about an impending Health Department report about the virus' toll on nursing homes. Earlier this month, Crown Publishing paused promotion and further production of the book, citing the federal investigation into the State's handling of nursing homes.
